The BC Highway Patrol says winter tire regulations apply to everyone in British Columbia and that includes supercars.
The message comes after an incident earlier this month where a Lamborghini Huracán was pulled over by a BCHP officer on Hwy 99 in Porteau Cove.
According to the BCHP, the traffic stop happened shortly before 2 pm on Oct. 13 after the northbound Lambo closed in fast on a member of the motorcycle patrol unit.

The supercar was clocked at 165 km/h, more than twice the speed limit of 80 km/h in the area.
“Excessive speed is dangerous any time, but in winter conditions, roadways can get unexpectedly icy even when the air temperature is above zero,” Cpl. Michael McLaughlin explained via media release.
“You are legally required to have winter tires, which have better tread and compounds that grip the road even in cold temperatures.”

The driver, a 34-year-old North Vancouver man, was fined $121 for his lack of winter tires, $109 for a licence plate violation and $483 for his excessive speed.
As a result of the latter, his Lambo was towed away and impounded for seven days, while he will also face three years of high-risk driver premiums and escalating insurance costs.
Winter tires are required on most BC highway routes outside of the Lower Mainland beginning on Oct. 1 and remain in place until the end of March or April, depending on the highway.
